Re: MODIS/VIIRS fire standard products?
Hi earthengine_urs , to clarify we do offer the API to query the full timeseries of the standard products we offer at FIRMS. I was mentioning that there is not a way to pull the whole timeseries of the standard product(s) as one CSV. The API method is the best method for pulling all of the data as a...

Re: MODIS/VIIRS fire standard products?
Hi earthengine_urs , Simon, Thank you for your interest in FIRMS data. The easiest way to get what you are looking for is through our API. We offer the standard products and NRT as you are describing. We also offer an ordering endpoint which you can submit for the data you would like if you are gett...

Re: Finding a fire on FIRMS
Hello sstrott , Thanks for your interest in FIRMS. We did a little research on this incident, and it appears it occurred in the vicinity of mile post 133, which is very close to the active fire detection identified by GOES West (GOES-18) at 15:50 on July 26, 2024. That appears to be the only satelli...

Re: How to calculate percentage of area burnt?
Hi, @brell.bernd ,
The easiest way off the top of my head would be download the dataset. Upload it into a GIS software and performance analysis based on the boundaries of the park. If you have more questions the FIRMS team would gladly assist.
Thank,
Dylan

Re: Nighttime light data (VIIRS)
Hi twokr9090 , Yes wildfires will affect the nighttime lights layer in VIIRS data. See an example of this on FIRMS here, https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/map/#m:advanced;d:24hrs,24hrs;l:fires_landsat_landsat,fires_modis_aqua,fires_modis_terra,fires_viirs_noaa20,fires_viirs_noaa21,fires_viirs_snp...

Re: 504 error when downloading VIIRS active fire files from FIRMS API
Hi @triszlers & @ottopegotti ,
There is a temporary unexpected outage of the FIRMS API due to website slowness. I do not have a full resolution time, however, you may check here, https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/notifications/firms/outages.html, for outage and resolution information.

Re: 504 error when downloading VIIRS active fire files from FIRMS API
Hi tmccabe , As far as we are aware there was no outage to our API. Yes we do have a standard limit of 5000 transactions / 10-minute interval. On the sign up for a MapKey it says, larger transactions may count as multiple requests (ex. requesting 7 days). We can increase your MapKey limit, but we wi...

Re: GLOBAL FİRE MAP
Hello falconxtr , Due to the resolution at that level it looks like all of Central Africa is on fire. If you zoom in you can see that the whole land is not on fire but there are a lot of detected hot spots. See here: https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/map/#d:24hrs;@23.7,-8.6,6.8z Also see our FAQ ...
