Hi josh33,
Thanks for pointing this out. We found an error in one of our behind-the-scenes fields that prevented this parameter from being served through the API. It should be good to go now.

Re: Minimum Insolation Parameter Change
Hi josh33, We worked on the API and associated metadata yesterday. Surplus is now available; units for others should be correct now. Give this a try to see if it fits your needs better: https://power.larc.nasa.gov/api/temporal/climatology/point?start=2001&end=2020&latitude=43.6532&longit...

Re: Minimum Insolation Parameter Change
This API call will give the daily average insolation per month, https://power.larc.nasa.gov/api/temporal/climatology/point?start=1990&end=2019&latitude=43.6532&longitude=-79.3832&community=re¶meters=ALLSKY_SFC_SW_DWN&format=json&header=true . We have some errors in th...

Re: Minimum Insolation Parameter Change
Hi josh33, The dictionary value for longname is incorrect, it should read "Minimum Available Insolation is the climatological minimum rolling sum over the n-day period in the given month." We revised the equations that give the values for the parameters. At this point it might help if you ...

Re: Minimum Insolation Parameter Change
Hi josh33,
The parameter name has changed; MIN_AVAIL_INSOL_CONSEC_XX gives units of kW-hr/m^2/day while INSOL_CONSEC_XX_MIN gives the percentage. We have removed INSOL_CONSEC_XX_MIN_PCT from the API.
Hopefully this will get your model back on track.
Thanks,
Colleen

Re: POWER LARC 2-meter hourly temperature data
The POWER data looks to be identical to the MERRA-2 hourly data with the adjustment for local time. Since the MERRA-2 data grid box size is 0.5 latitude x 0.625 degree longitude, the average elevation for the grid box is quite a bit larger than the surface site 332 m (MERRA-2) to 74 m. That may be t...

Re: SWGNET, is albedo already applied?
Yes, the upward component of the shortwave flux accounts for the albedo. Surface net downward shortwave flux is defined in the same manner as longwave, so your equation for that is correct (SWGNET = SWGDWN - SWGUP). If you would like to know the albedo used in the flux calculation, you can divide th...

Re: No Sun Days
Hello, We realized that the previous formula was incorrect and not giving the desired results, therefore the previous method will not be available. The parameter was never intended to be actual consecutive no-sun days, but equivalent no-sun days. This work is based off a presentation at the Solar Wo...
