Trouble Downloading MERRA2 on mac

Hello, I am trying to download subsetted MERRA2 data using a Mac (in the built-in Mac Terminal). Unlike when I have successfully downloaded files in the past on a windows, I have being having issues creating the ".netrc" and the ".urs_cookies" files. When I enter "touch .net...
