Gradients removed in MODISA night SST
Hello ocean colour folks, I have been making 1 km SST layers by downloading night-time MODIS-Aqua L2 SST images, and binning / mapping into composites with SeaDAS. However the non-uniformity flags result in valid pixels along SST fronts and gradients being removed. This removes quite a lot of data i...

Re: Removing high chlor_a before binning
Hey Sean,
Thanks for your answer! I'll adjust the CHLWARN flag for future. I agree this would be a super useful feature esp at the L2/L3 binning stage for a variety of products.
Cheers, happy halloween ,

Re: Removing high chlor_a before binning
Hey gnwiii, As I understand you're saying that a threshold is maybe a bit too simplistic a way to remove values. In this case I'm using regular flagging but even so in my region of interest (BC coast), at 1 km resolution many pixels on the continental shelf in the chlor_a product are very high (> 60...

Removing high chlor_a before binning
Hey forum, Apologies if there is an obvious answer. Is there a simple way to remove high chlorophyll-a values before they are included in binned images and composites? I am making daily, 8day and monthly chlor_a composites at 1km resolution using L2Bin > L3Bin > L3Map on downloaded and reprocessed L...

Okay, thanks for the clarification Sean! Definitely did not realize the change in bounding box search system.

Re: MODIS Aqua reprocessing status 2022
I'll just tack onto this question to ask if the CMR Search website has an estimated date it will sync with the oceancolour site? For MODIS-Aqua both R2018 and R2022 Level-2 files are there, but a number of files from the R2022 processing are still missing. Attached is an image of the 2003 R2018 L2 f...

Re: L2gen error with 3x3 straylight masking
Thanks Sean, for next time I'll make sure SeaDAS is updated first....
I wonder if the working / not working has something to do with spatial coverage in the bands used. Regardless, thanks for looking. Cheers

Re: L2gen error with 3x3 straylight masking
Hey Sean, Thanks for looking. Yeah, that file does produce a GEO file with a "1"...lots of those in 2006/2007. I re-checked and this file still fails for me with 3x3 but passes with 7x5 (accting for the "1" in the GEO file :) ). With 3x3: Loading SSES table from /home/hilborna/oc...

L2gen error with 3x3 straylight masking
Hey all, This thread (https://forum.earthdata.nasa.gov/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1875&sid=e346b30e9daf0a3e636c20524e9839a8)has been inactive for a while but I found it helpful as I'm experiencing the same issue with images here and there. I've been running OCSSW to process L1A > L2 MODISA imagery ...

Re: SeaWiFS L2 MLAC files missing?
Hi Sean,
Thanks for writing that out. It's useful background (and helpful info if you're like me and don't have much experience using SeaWiFS data).
Cheers!
