Re: L2gen - cant remove HILT flags MODIS
When the HILT flag is set for MODIS, one or more of the bands are saturated. It is often that the 869nm band is saturated, this band is used in the atmospheric correction. Disabling the masking of HILT will not change the fact that the data are saturated and a saturated 869nm band will cause the aer...

Re: Finding and Retrieving PACE OCI Level-1 and Level-2 Granuals For a Specified Region
Bruce, 'Tis true that the venerable browse.pl does not support PACE. However, search.earthdata.nasa.gov does (and will eventually replace browse.pl for all sensors). Spatial and temporal data search is possible with this tool and soon (I hope) we'll have extracted data ordering capability enabled fo...

Re: L2gen processing of VIIRS SNPP is missing some bands
It is not the atmospheric correction option, it is: l2prod=Rrs_vvv "_vvv" tells l2gen to expand the products to the list of visible wavelengths - which to not include the NIR bands. You will need to explicitly define the NIR bands for l2gen to return them. Keep in mind, if you request a ba...

Well, if you have data in the older format, it would work
...but yes, l2gen processing for the current MSI file format is unavailable.

Fabrizio, Norman has retired. I've sent him a note about this post, so he'll know how much you appreciated his work and assistance. There is absolutely no issue with images generated from data you obtained from NASA to be published. Attribution is not required, but we do appreciate acknowledgment. Y...

Re: PACE L3M grid
Toby, I argued for only one resolution (the 4.6km) 8-) PACE is more than just oceans, and some folks from the atmosphere discipline proposed we distribute a 0.1 degree resolution, so we're back to two. The 9.2 km was produced to maintain consistency with SeaWiFS when we started producing the MODIS d...

Re: issue in MSI L2gen proceesing
The format of the MSI data changed since processing was implemented for it in l2gen. We have not had the time to assess the changes to see what would be needed to be changed in the code to allow l2gen to work with the new format. It may be quite some time before we are able to do so.

Re: Terra direct broadcast data outage?
The following message was sent to the Direct Broadcast community today (18 March 2024): Terra continues to collect science; however, no Direct Broadcast is available. Terra is encountering an intermittent solar array power generation issue limiting our ability to continue all science and provide Dir...

No. In fact, with much sadness I must report that the venerable old browser is soon to be decommissioned. However, the data are available for search and download via the Earthdata Search tool: https://search.earthdata.nasa.gov/search/granules We also have an OB.DAAC portal, which limits the search t...

Re: Mid-way failure in data extraction procedure.
The order seems to be expired (which means the data were deleted from our distribution servers). It was only for extracts of daily data from Jan 2003, not the full 20+ years of Aqua data. Please try placing the order again, and respond to the request for confirmation in a more timely manner. (the ex...
