Re: OCO-2/3 visualization
Hello, Our GES DISC staff members assisting you have advised me that at this time we do not have the personnel resources to help you with code debugging efforts. They recommend examining the three options listed earlier and determining which will best suit your research needs. If you need additional...

MERRA-2 FAQ: How thick is the top of the soil layer in MERRA-2's land model?
The thickness of the top soil layer in MERRA-2's land model (i.e., Catchment Model, Koster et al. 2000) is constant with time across the globe, as 0.05 meter (5 cm). The corresponding variable is dzsf, defined as "thickness of soil layer associated with SFMC and GWETTOP (meter)" and saved ...

MERRA-2 FAQ: How to correctly use the ozone products in MERRA-2?
Provided below are recommendations for using MERRA-2 ozone products at various vertical levels. Refer to Wargan et al. (2017) for more information. Total column ozone: use the total ozone in inst1_2d_asm_Nx. Below 500 hPa, including at the surface, ozone loses realism because the model does not incl...

Re: Direct observations of aerosol and ocean properties
I'm not sure what type of data you are seeking; the GES DISC (https://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov/) has a large variety of aerosol data products, including aerosol data over the oceans. The MERRA-2 data collection has some ocean-related variables, including sea salt.

Hello,
We (the GES DISC) are not the DAAC that archives MODIS aerosol data, though we do provide it in Giovanni. Can you provide an image of what you are describing to allow a better understanding of the issue?

Hello,
Thanks for your question. To further assist you and direct your question to the appropriate staff members, can you tell me/us what data product and variable you are seeking? You may be directed to bypass Giovanni and use on of our other data download methods, some of which can be scripted.
