Please use the following wget instruction found here,

In addition a version of wget 1.18 complied with gnuTLS 3.3.3 or OpenSSL 1.0.2 or LibreSSL 2.0.2 or later is recommended.

Hello, The work around is to download a list of URLs from Earthdata Search https://earthdata.nasa.gov/ and then use the instructions found here https://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov/data-access to configure your system for download the list of URLs via wget or curl.
