The GMAO_FP MET data are used for near real time processing and are not permanently archived. If you are processing an earlier time period, you should be using the MERRA2-derived refined MET files

The LUTs are not tied to a particular tag. You want to run the update_luts program to get the latest LUTs for viirsn.

Upon further review, we have decided that the current JPSS1 VIIRS calibration remains valid and the refined processing out to 2023-09-01 is under way. JPSS2 calibration is still under review.

It's strange that the download fails at the exact same byte each time. There is a bottleneck somewhere in your route.
When I download the same file to an off-premises computer, I see 15-20 MB/s transfer rates.

Can you not specify "https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/getfile/" directly in your wget call and eliminate the need to follow the redirect?
