Re: Issue with L2Gen terminal command on VIIRs L1a data

The file not found is: /home/naarring/SeaDAS/ocssw/share/common/tai-utc.dat You need to make sure to have run update_luts: $ update_luts viirsn Oh, and it *should* be /home/naarring/SeaDAS/ocssw/var/common/tai-utc.dat ("var", not "share") seems your $OCDATAROOT is being used as $...

Re: SeaDAS Tiff 8-bit

Mike,

To get floating point values in the TIFF output from l3mapgen, set 'apply_pal=no' (or false, or 0).

Re: How to download global VIIRS L1A and geo data?

Elaine, The documentation on the "ProcessGeolocate_viirs" page needs to be updated (thanks for alerting us to that discrepancy). The required DEM files are no longer distributed using the samoa FTP server (it, in fact, no longer serves as an FTP server - as we no longer support FTP distrib...

Re: Sea Ice flag criteria

The l2gen flag CLDICE is set for a pixel when the cloud albedo (defined as the rayleigh corrected TOA refectance in a specified NIR or SWIR band - varies by sensor) is above a threshold (default is 0.027 for the band closest to 865nm). It's the cloud/ice flag because both clouds and ice can trigger ...

Re: Changes to Ocean color data web portal

Jacques, It doesn't' need modifying (or dealing with on your end). The paths are resolvable (otherwise the html links wouldn't work). Sure that extra "./" seems odd (and is superfluous), but the link works the same as if it wasn't there. The directdataaccess URL is primarily intended for h...

Re: Seadas аtmospheric correction on land

The NDVI product is computed from Rayleigh corrected reflectance. Over land, l2gen computes the Rayleigh contribution following the work of Jacques Descloitres (briefly described in Gumley, Descloitres, and Schmaltz. 2003. "Creating reprojected true color MODIS images: A tutorial." Univers...

Question: How to Open and Read Modis-Aqua L0 data file

Re: How to Open and Read Modis-Aqua L0 data file

No, there is no tool that can read the L0 files (at least none that I am aware). The L0 files are just a the raw binary packet stream from the instrument, which as I said before is not a particularly friendly format. All of the information from the L0 is contained in the L1A file, but organized in a...

Re: How to Open and Read Modis-Aqua L0 data file

The L0 format isn't really a friendly one. We distribute them for those who wish to concatenate several together to generate L1 files that are not in the 5-minute granularization that we distribute. Our SeaDAS package includes scripts and programs necessary to convert the L0 binary data into the mor...

Re: Changes to Ocean color data web portal

Jacques,

Correct, both URLs are still active, although the older one is deprecated. We will likely discontinue support for the older path on June 1st (but haven't set that in stone yet). Just know it WILL go away and relatively soon.

Regards,
Sean
