Dear user, The metadata ShortName for the PLATFORM has changed over time. Your query specified platform=Suomi-NPP, which was not how the metadata was defined earlier on. The platform was defined as "NPP". A query for the platform which included _both_ of these values will return the result...

I have been unable to replicate your error. When I click either MODIS or VIIRS S-NPP in the FIRMS site,it does take me to the yearly data access page.

Each scientific team evaluates data for archival based on a multitude of conditions.
There is no specific date for a project to be archived.

Is there a specific project/data you are interested in?
