This is because search will pick all granules (complete 5-min swaths) which include your defined area of interest.

The MODIS Aerosol products (MxD04_L2 and MxD04_3k) monitor the ambient aerosol loading and some properties of the aerosol over cloud-free snow/ice-free land and ocean surfaces.
