Re: SeaDAS 8.1.0 -- MODIS GEO file

Posting screen captures should be avoided. If you copy and paste text into forum posts then the text is searchable and also make it easier for someone to use quotes from the text in a response. % modis_GEO -h usage: modis_GEO [-h] [--version] [-p PARFILE] [-o GEOFILE] [--att1 ATT1] [--att2 ATT2] [--...

Re: OCSSW: Remote Server is Down

Keep reading the section on "Processing Programs and Source Code" at "https://seadas.gsfc.nasa.gov/downloads": "To process SeaDAS OCSSW in Windows see the client/server model model. (Note: previous SeaDAS version 8.0.0 did not support Windows processing but the current SeaDA...

Re: MODIS GEO file

Other macOS users have had problems using the "system" python3. As for linux, it is recommended that you not make changes to the "system" python3, but use either a different python distribution (there are many, including anacoda, python.org, macports, homebrew, ...). The download...

Re: OCSSW Installation Error

You may want to install your own python3 (e.g., using Anaconda) so your SeaDAS installation isn't affected by updates to the "system" python3. Even if you are "only" installing packages you should consider using a Python virtual environment (venv, see: "https://docs.python.o...

When NASA moved to HTTPS there were problems with older linux distros that didn't support any of the ciphers NASA was using. The forum posts from that period include ways to diagnose problems with https connections. See <https://forum.earthdata.nasa.gov/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1046&sid=9f22b450f...

Re: Getting the error ‘/usr/bin/python: No module named pip’

I think you need python3 for SeaDAS 8 and the OCSSW processing software. You should install a 3rd party python independent of the system python, which is used by Apple's system management tools. There are several package management systems (anaconda, fink, macports, homebrew) that can be used to ins...

Re: MODIS Geolocation

Has anything changed for 2020-2021? There is newer OCSSW processing software which provides "$OCSSWROOT/bin/modis_GEO" to replace "$OCSSWROOT/scripts/modis_GEO.py". You haven't provide enough detail to allow someone who has the newer version to try to reproduce your problem, but...

Re: PAR

Is the missing data found in high latitude winter? Which sensor are you using? In my area (Northwest Atlantic) PAR is missing in areas of seasonal ice. The algorithm can't differentiate between bright pixels caused by cloud and bright pixels caused by surface conditions, so it relies on ancillary da...
