Re: modis_GEO.py failures
Good tips, thank you! At least for now I'm testing that the gbad files are are 19968 bytes or more long and start with EOSAM1 or EOSAM2. If I find that's not working I'll come up with plan B. In the case of netcdf/hdf files I have an automated test that ncdump -h doesn't return an error code. In add...

Re: modis_GEO.py failures
OK, this is embarrassing  Our download script was retrieving html error messages instead of gbad files and happily injecting them into the production system as if they were actual gbad files. Needless to say modis_GEO.py didn't read / process them properly. Anyway, I'm off to add a trap to the...

modis_GEO.py failures
Some time late in the UTC day 2021-10-10 or early in the day 2021-10-11 modis_GEO.py mysteriously stopped working (we hadn't manipulated the system in months). Here's an example of what's happening when I try to process almost any data with it: /marine-services/ocssw/scripts/modis_GEO.py --threshold...

Subscriptions broken
We have 8 different subscriptions that we normally get data from using the file search cgi (https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/api/file_search/). The subscriptions get data from VIIRS/NPP, VIIRS/N20, MODISA and MODIST. All 8 subscriptions stopped returning new data between 11 and 15 UTC on 5/5/2021...

MODIST geo files?
John,
Thank you for the quick reply!
Just out of curiosity, why does MODISA get 5 minute attitude and ephemeris files while MODIST gets 2 hour ones?

MODIST geo files?
Are geo files for MODIST available for download from oceandata? If so where should I be looking?
Or does one need to make their own from the two hourly attitude and ephemeris files?
Thank you!

Processing MODIST L1A to L2 from LANCE input
By way of background, we like to be able to process data entirely from LANCE NRT input as a backup for when the OBPG DAAC is unavailable.I have successfully found the 2 hourly Terra ephemeris files on LANCE (under https:// nrt3.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/archive/allData/61/AM1EPHNE) but I can't seem to ...
