Re: Getting data for a limited area
Thomas, Hello. Though it might take some time, you could use our Giovanni system ( https://giovanni.gsfc.nasa.gov/ ) and generate time-series for specific locations, which could then be downloaded as both an image and as CSV data. Giovanni accepts lat/lon coordinates for specific locations. There ar...

Re: MERRA-2 skin temperature, effective skin temperature
Hello, I apologize for the delay in this response. I can answer part of your question, and we will ask our subject matter experts for additional information. Over most of the ocean, the MERRA-2 skin surface temperature is close to the oceanographic SST. There are larger differences in the polar regi...

Re: Background Color
It appears that you are looking at a file from the Ocean Biology Distributed Active Archive Center (OBDAAC). What tool/software are you using to examine the data? Further replies will likely be from an OBDAAC staff member - I'm asking that question to help them out in answering your query.

Hello,
Sorry for additional questions, but what is the name of the data variable you are examining?

Re: Wind speed and direction for terrestrial ecology
Chloe, I would recommend using our Giovanni system, https://giovanni.gsfc.nasa.gov/ . It provides windspeed and wind direction data from both the Global Land Data Assimilation System (GLDAS) and the Modern-Era Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications Version 2 (MERRA-2). Giovanni is not ...
