Question: MODIS level-2 processing

Re: MODIS level-2 processing

The timing is based on the calibration update process and the availability of the refined ancillary data. While generally on a regular cadence, it isn't necessarily exact. In fact, due to an issue with our current source for the ozone ancillary input , the refined ocean color processing has been on ...

Re: OLCI Vicarious Calibration Coefficients

Until we process and release L2 files for the OLCI sensors, there is no "official" set to use. We hope to be able to process (and release) L2 data soon...but you may notice I said that almost 6 months ago. Use of either set "in the wild" will be better than using unity. Which is ...

Re: MODIS level-2 processing

About 3 months.

Since we initiated the R2018 reprocessing, the Quicklook/Refined process changed. This was to allow time to to assess the rapidly changing temporal calibration and made any necessary adjustments.

Re: HICO

'Relative Spectral Response'(RSR) and 'Spectral response function'(SRF) are just two ways to say the same thing. One might argue that an RSR is inherently normalized, while if one uses the term SRF it is not implicitly normalized - although to use it properly would be to normalize it. So in practice...

Re: HICO

Ah, yes, that one would be hard to find without knowing exactly where it was... It *should* be linked from here: https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/rsr/rsr_tables/ but isn't yet. We began, but didn't finish, an update to that information. Hyperspectral sensors are tricky to display the way we've ...

Re: How to Get Reflectance Data for Lat/Lon?

John, The answer depends on your needs. If you need the highest resolution, you'll want to grab the Level 2 files and extract the data from them ( SeaDAS can help with the data extraction). You can order the L2 files that cover your region of interest from our L1/2 browser . If you are looking for t...

Re: Problems to untar file with MODIS PAR L3 images

Laura, The .netrc set up is only needed once (unless you change your password or delete the .netrc file) Since you are using python, I would recommend using the requests module to accomplish the file retrieval, rather than wget. You could also just grab the obdaac_download script (available from the...

Re: seadas update luts problem

Jay, This is a fun one...if you run update_luts with -vv you should see that the error is a status 304, which isn't really an error (server is just telling the client that the resource hasn't changed). While not an error, it seems to be tripping up the error catching in the script. If you delete $OC...

Re: IndexError: string index out of range

Just making sure you're on your toes ;) We're developing a new ancillary retrieval process that will have a slightly different API from the current one. To test this new process, we needed it exposed on the external server...but in the process a wire got crossed and the old interface was inadvertent...
