Re: OLCI Vicarious Calibration Coefficients

Anna, We've not released our "official" L2 processing yet (soon, I promise :D ), but if you want to use a set of gains for OLCI S3A consistent with l2gen, try these: gain=[0.959728,0.972313,0.97156,0.96916,0.97636,0.97951,0.97705,0.975398,0.97344,0.97597,1.00562,0.9829,1.0,1.0,1.0,0.98989,...

Re: SeaDAS OCSSW Command line/Batch processing

To answer the original question about the missing environment variables, before running OCSSW programs from the command line you should source the $OCSSWROOT/OCSSW_bash.env file: $ export OCSSWROOT=<path to ocssw> $ source $OCSSWROOT/OCSSW_bash.env ...and yes, the MLP wrapper doesn't like keyword=va...

Question: What did I forget to install and where do I find it?

Re: What did I forget to install and where do I find it?

It's a bug. Well, a missing 3, really.

The modis_L1A_extract is missing the 3 on the python in the shebang line:
#! /usr/bin/env python

should be
#! /usr/bin/env python3

Add the 3 to $OCSSWROOT/bin/modis_L1A_extract and try again. I'll fix it in the repository so the next tag will have it.

Re: What did I forget to install and where do I find it?

Hmmm...the viirs.viirs_utils code is part of the "bin" install, no sensor specific bits necessary. You should have $OCSSWROOT/bin/viirs/viirs_utils.py...if that's not the case, something went awry not sure how that could have happened. If you don't have that viirs_util.py, try running inst...

Re: Seadas 8 not responding after install

SeaDAS 7.5.3 is still available and there is no reason not to use it other than it the end of the line version 7. The processing component (OCSSW) is distinct from the visualization component and can be installed independently. So you could use the OCSSW distributed with SeaDAS 8, but visualize the ...

Re: Seadas 8 not responding after install

Ah, ha! Yes, it appears to be an out of memory situation. SeaDAS is asking for 4G, but since you only have 8G there are probably times when you don't have 4G available. You can reduce the amount of RAM that SeaDAS will use by changing the -Xmx option in the <seadas-install-dir>/etc/seadas.conf file ...

Re: Seadas 8 not responding after install

We've not been able to replicate the problem you are seeing. If it's an OS-related issue, it will be quite difficult since the oldest macOS to which we have access is 10.15.7. As you indicated, you are aware that SeaDAS can be launched from a terminal command line. Please try that again, and post th...

Re: SeaWiFS L2 MLAC files missing?

Andrea, It's a bit of a complicated story. SeaWiFS had a very limited capacity to store the full 1km resolution (LAC - Local Area Coverage) data on-board, but it did continually broadcast the signal via High Resolution Picture Transmission (HRPT) and any receiving station with the proper equipment c...

Re: Aqua and SST NC dataset questions

It all depends on your needs. L2 is (typically) higher resolution, but not mapped and not as "quality" masked (questionable outputs may have a flag set, but are not masked). The "not mapped" part makes using L2 data more difficult, not that difficult, but definitely not as easy a...

Question: L2gen Sentinel-3 clouds and gaps

Re: L2gen Sentinel-3 clouds and gaps

The missing data on the edges is from the L1 data. If you look at the L1 file flags you'll see those edges are flagged as "invalid". It is a function of how the data are collected by the instrument. No getting around it :( The cloud flagging for ocean color in l2gen is admittedly a bit con...
