Kim,Norman will probably respond, but likely not refer to it as magic...but I do :grin:Way back in the distant past, Norman posted a "how-to" on one of his bits of SeaWiFS magic. His magicians top hat has added more fairy dust over the years, but the the basics are there. He also responded t...

The previous non-interactive usage works with the new API, and our FAQ on the topic has been updated. We'll see about adding a pointer to it on the interactive page

No data for PAR products L2
The problem is that there was an error in the definition of the valid_max metadata parameter for the PAR product that has since been rectified. The data processed prior to the implementation of the fix have an incorrect valid_max value. See: https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/forum/o...

Real variable values in l3mapgen geotiff output
We chose to NOT put the scale factor for the geotiff output when the indexed color palette is used, as the scaling would be rather coarse, so yes with the palette applied the tif should be used just for visualization. However, if you set apply_pal=0, l3mapgen will generate a floating-poi...

Ana,Do not be discouraged but these failures. While we have tried to make the process easy, network issues can be confounding. Retry. Most cases the process will pick up where it left off. A new install of Ubuntu 16.04 should work, as it is the OS we develop on ...and i...

Processing of Level 2 MODIS Rrs 11000 and 12000
The l2gen code will not output emissive bands as remote sensing reflectance, because, well, they are emissive bands not reflective bands.
Try BT_11000 to retrieve the brightness temperature.

Using l2_flags for MODIS Aqua and VIIRS
1 & 2) No.Both MODIS and VIIRS (in fact all the L2 files we distribute) are generated using the same code (l2gen). There is a common file format, and thus a common l2_flag array.Obviously, for all but VIIRS the BOWTIEDEL flag is not set.3)The new "flags" in the SeaDAS GUI are gen...

Study of coastal water turbidity in Réunion Island
The standard MODIS L2 files we produce are (nominally) 1km resolution. While they do have the 645nm Rrs data, to get the 250m resolution you would have to process the L1 files to L2 locally and set resolution=250We do not provide a quai-true color image in any of our products. You can ge...

OCI algorithm and OCx algorithm
Yeah, I suppose that can be confusing...especially when I mistype 667 as 671 (got VIIRS on the brain) ;)MODIS *has* 555, but for the ocean color world it's green band is 547 (also listed elsewhere as 551 - the spec doesn't match reality). The 555nm band is a "land" band, with a lowe...
