Update - I removed the variables I had added to the product list and the script now runs the way it used to (which is to say correctly). The question now is how do I add the following to the L2 file:
ntilts, tilt, tilt_flags, and tilt_ranges.

l2gen error that references ...seadas-viirs-v2.0/seadas/build/src/l2gen/prodgen.c
Hi - I'm reprocessing some SeaWiFS files from L1 to L2 using l2gen and have run into an error I've not seen before. I should note that I'm doing the reprocessing because I needed to add some ancillary variables (ntilts, etc.) I need for some downstream calculations that no longer a...

smigen VS l3mapgen?
I've been using smigen for years (and years and years). I have a very large collection of mapped l3 files created with smigen that I use for various different analyses. I understand that smigen has been (or is in the process of being) replaced by l3mapgen. I just did a quick te...

Hmmm. Only 161Kb - would that be too big? I'll need to figure out Dropbox. Difficult dealing with an old guy! B.

I tried to attache the file, but I'm not sure I was successful. I went to the post, clicked on "Attachment," chose the file, clicked on "Upload" but nothing seems to happen. Have I got that right? B.

Please verify meaning of "Data Bins" global attribute in mapped L3 file
Darn, I was very happy with the original answer. In fact (being old fashioned), I use smigen and not l3mapgen, I can check the source for that, though I doubt the metadata definition would have changed. I generated the land mask using a suggestion I got some time ago from fro...

Please verify meaning of "Data Bins" global attribute in mapped L3 file
Hi Danny - Thank you! That makes sense and would explain what I see. What I didn't understand (after all these years) was the "Data Bins" refers to the number of bins from the original global L3 file that were used to produce the mapped image rather than the num...
