Dear Mursel, This How-To Document may be of use to you. I do not think you can subset with country/state shapefiles with this method, but it does allow definition of a region with lat/lon coordinates. https://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov/information/howto?keywords=API&title=How%20to%20Use%20the%20Web%20Se...

Re: Earth Reflectivity Data
Hello, What TOMS variable(s) are you using? The MERRA-2 dataset at the GES DISC has surface albedo data. We also have data from subsequent missions to TOMS -- OMI, OMPS, and TROPOMI, which may have data variables similar to what you are using with TOMS. And CERES data has other Earth radiation data ...

Re: Negative values in SO2 column amount
The negative SO2 values are artifacts of the retrieval process. They are usually associated with retrievals over highly reflective surfaces. The OMSO2.003 ReadMe has more detail than is contained in the OMSO2e ReadMe. https://aura.gesdisc.eosdis.nasa.gov/data/Aura_OMI_Level2/OMSO2.003/doc/README.OMS...

Re: Data Subset for OMHCHO: OMI/Aura Formaldehyde (HCHO) Total Column 1-orbit L2 Swath 13x24 km V003
The variables 'PixelCornerLatitudes' and 'PixelCornerLongitudes' contain the coordinates of the corners of each pixel. The corner locations fall on either side of the pixel centers which are defined in the geolocation variables 'Longitude' and 'Latitude' which have dimensions nTimes and nXtrack . Ex...
