Re: UUI subsetting "datasetID" - how to find?
Hello, Here is the answer provided by our GES DISC staff. There are two ways to get the DatasetId. 1. The search API (https://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov/information/howto?keywords=api&title=How%20to%20Use%20the%20Web%20Services%20API%20for%20Dataset%20Searching) does provide a way to get the DatasetID; ...

Re: MODIS SST product
"Binned" simply refers to the collection of valid observations. With 1 km (at nadir) resolution, a "bin" will be each 4x4 km region on the Level 3 data grid. Any valid 1 km pixel observation during the time period (8-day, monthly) will be added to the appropriate bin. At the end ...

Re: MODIS SST product
The previous post does a good job of covering the answers to both questions posed. The monthly SST data product (as for all the other monthly ocean color data products) is a product of binning and averaging -- all of the valid measurements for a specific location are "binned", and then at ...

Re: MODIS SST product
For your most recent question, are you referring to a daily data product or a data product for a longer period (8-day or monthly)?
SST can provide data with some cloud cover (high clouds/cirrus) where there will be no visible range data.

Re: MODIS SST product
Hello, The "best" data product for your requirements is a more complex question. I am providing a couple of references (even though one is several years old) that discuss the issue. Because there are several causes of differences between daytime and nighttime SST, I do not think an average...

Re: MODIS SST product
Hello, One of the primary reasons is that in many places there will be a diurnal heating cycle due to warming of the surface skin layer by sunlight. It is also dependent on wind speed, as the heating effect of sunlight will be affected by wave action and mixing with the cooler waters below the surfa...

Re: CO2 build up rates and concentrations over North and South polar regions
John, Thank you for your comments. OCO-2 uses sunlight to perform its measurements, which limits coverage in the polar regions. "A set of eight measurements are made along a narrow ground track as the spacecraft travels about 2.25 km along its orbit track, providing spatial resolution of <3 km2...

Hello,
To assist you further, our data specialist would like to know if you are interested in grid sizes other than 0.25 degree, and what temporal period you are investigating.
Thanks!
