Re: Using GEDI over Mangroves
Yes. GEDI measures the height of vegetation above the surface, so inundation (e.g. tides) will impact the estimation of canopy height. Validation of GEDI products is an active area of research, but targeted NASA LVIS acquisitions in the Pongara region (Gabon) are being used for this purpose. Dr. Lol...

Re: ASTER Data Download Cygwin Unable to Retrieve Data
@ srleone9 I unfortunately can't help with the cygwin issue, for that specifically, I would defer to: support@earthdata.nasa.gov However, it looks like your use case is that you'd like to bulk download many different ASTER GDEM files directly from the LP DAAC Data Pool? There are a couple of solutio...

Re: Negative GEDI RH Metrics
Relative Height is calculated by the following equation: elev_highestreturn - elev_lowestmode. The lower RH metrics (e.g., RH10) will often have negative values, particularly in low canopy cover conditions. This is because a relatively high fraction of the waveform energy is from the ground and belo...

Re: GEDI Coverage vs. Full Power Beams
GEDI coverage beams (beams 0000, 0001, 0010, and 0011) were designed to penetrate canopies of up to 95% canopy cover under “average” conditions. For this reason, it is recommended to preference the GEDI full power beams in cases of dense vegetation.
