This is the reply from our MERRA-2 data team:
"The current MERRA-2 aerosol model doesn’t include aerosol-cloud interactions, and thus doesn’t produce the parameters such as the aerosol number concentrations."

Note that the data processing delay is also affecting Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) data.
