can you provide both commands that you run? and do they repeatably fail for NT and succeed for NRT?
My point is that the network problem could have been intermittent and coincidentally happened at the the time you were pulling ancillary for the NT files.

Re: weird getanc error for OLCI NT subscriptions only
The intermittent errors seem to be due to a server timeout:
host='oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov', port=443): Read timed out. (read timeout=10.0)
Is your internet connection stable?
If you run both queries on the command line does NR work and NT fail.

Re: masks & flags : OLCI
We are using those SPARE flags in OLCI L2 files to generate internal statistics and to test new flags.
They do not affect binning or mapping of the products.

Re: checksum for NRT files
We use the NRT notation because QuickLook is long to put in the file name. The NRT files run as soon as the L1 data are available from the satellite, using any available ancillary or climatological met / ozone data. The refined data wait for the refined MERRA2 ancillary and updated calibration. If y...

Re: checksum for NRT files
NRT files are readily available in file search.
Just select Data Type "All" or "Quicklook Only" and check the box next to "Include checksum with file name"

Re: Problem with MATLAB and Earthdata OPeNDAP
No - the browser usually has its own cache of saved passwords. But this was just a way to demonstrate the need for authentication. I am not a Matlab user, but hopefully someone else can walk you through the steps for obtaining and using an access token in Matlab.

Re: Problem with MATLAB and Earthdata OPeNDAP
Try accessing the OPeNDAP URL with a fresh web browser window. See if there is a user authentication step that Matlab is not handling.
