Re: Magnitude and Unit of PM2.5, MERRA-2: Conversion Necessary?

From our data specialist: "I am glad that my previous response was helpful. The MERRA-2 reanalysis, including aerosol reanalysis, is not pure observation. It results from assimilating various observations into a model, i.e., the NASA GEOS model. Thus, you can use PM2.5 from the dataset M2TMNXAE...

Re: Magnitude and Unit of PM2.5, MERRA-2: Conversion Necessary?

From our data specialist: "Regarding the question posted at https://forum.earthdata.nasa.gov/viewtopic.php?t=4594&p=16264#p16264 , your method for calculating the monthly mean BCSMASS (M2TMNXAER) from the hourly mean (M2T1NXAER) is incorrect. The two datasets, i.e., M2T1NXAER for hourly mea...

Note that the data processing delay is also affecting Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) data.

Hello, thank you for your question. Yes, this is temporary, but there is not a set date for the resolution of the problem. Please read our alert message for more information. https://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov/information/alerts?title=OMI%20data%20outage%2Fdelay

Re: Spatial Subsetting Applications

The GES DISC offers spatial subsetting for many datasets, accessible through the main data ordering interface. First search for the datasets of interest, using keywords in the search box on the home page. In the returned list, if the words "Subset/Get Data" appear under the dataset name, t...

Re: PIC Algorithms

By the way, here is the OBDAAC page on the PIC algorithm, if you have not seen it earlier.

Re: PIC Algorithms

At this point you have gone beyond my basic understanding of the PIC algorithm, so I would recommend further correspondence with the OBDAAC staff. I will add the "OBDAAC" tag to this thread. It is my expectation that the chl-a product does not provide a good estimate of chlorophyll in Ehux.

Re: PIC Algorithms

That's a good question. As I recall, the high reflectivity of the coccolithophores makes it difficult to properly estimate chlorophyll in cocco blooms. I think (though I can be corrected) that chl-a processing includes a coccolithophore bloom mask because of that interference. I.e., so much light is...
