Re: OLCI 709 nm band

Vicarious calibration....or rather the lack thereof. Once properly calibrated, the result is more like what you would expect: Screen Shot 2021-10-05 at 4.11.34 PM.png The above was generated from a scene using the following gains: gain=[0.9795,0.9953,0.9796,0.9675,0.9697,0.9695,0.9750,0.9750,0.9744,...

Question: How to run PML algorithm in command line?

Re: How to run PML algorithm in command line?

The available products for the PML algorithm are:
bbp_###_pml
aph_###_pml
adg_###_pml
a_###_pml
bb_###_pml

(### is a short hand for all the wavelength, so a_443_pml will give you total absorption at 443nm)

Question: Commandline works, Cron fails

Re: Commandline works, Cron fails

Brock, If it works on the command line, but not in cron, there must be a difference in the configuration on your side when run from cron vs the command line. We're just the end point and no response from our servers would be different depending on how your system sent the request. Nothing on our sid...

Question: MODIS level-2 processing

Re: MODIS level-2 processing

The timing is based on the calibration update process and the availability of the refined ancillary data. While generally on a regular cadence, it isn't necessarily exact. In fact, due to an issue with our current source for the ozone ancillary input , the refined ocean color processing has been on ...

Re: OLCI Vicarious Calibration Coefficients

Until we process and release L2 files for the OLCI sensors, there is no "official" set to use. We hope to be able to process (and release) L2 data soon...but you may notice I said that almost 6 months ago. Use of either set "in the wild" will be better than using unity. Which is ...

Re: MODIS level-2 processing

About 3 months.

Since we initiated the R2018 reprocessing, the Quicklook/Refined process changed. This was to allow time to to assess the rapidly changing temporal calibration and made any necessary adjustments.

Question: HICO

Re: HICO

'Relative Spectral Response'(RSR) and 'Spectral response function'(SRF) are just two ways to say the same thing. One might argue that an RSR is inherently normalized, while if one uses the term SRF it is not implicitly normalized - although to use it properly would be to normalize it. So in practice...

Re: HICO

Ah, yes, that one would be hard to find without knowing exactly where it was... It *should* be linked from here: https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/rsr/rsr_tables/ but isn't yet. We began, but didn't finish, an update to that information. Hyperspectral sensors are tricky to display the way we've ...

Re: How to Get Reflectance Data for Lat/Lon?

John, The answer depends on your needs. If you need the highest resolution, you'll want to grab the Level 2 files and extract the data from them ( SeaDAS can help with the data extraction). You can order the L2 files that cover your region of interest from our L1/2 browser . If you are looking for t...

Re: Problems to untar file with MODIS PAR L3 images

Laura, The .netrc set up is only needed once (unless you change your password or delete the .netrc file) Since you are using python, I would recommend using the requests module to accomplish the file retrieval, rather than wget. You could also just grab the obdaac_download script (available from the...
