There are also information pages for each mission on the OceanColor web. You can navigate to Missions > HICO and eventually you would come across this page on HICO Sensor and Data Characteristics

For a quick peek into metadata of files before downloading you can view data from Earthdata Search. Once you have downloaded data onto your machine you can to open it with data analysis software, such as SeaDAS to view the metadata.
