Announcing the NASA Earthdata Webinar "Discover NASA's Ocean Color Data and Services at the OB.DAAC"

The NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's Ocean Biology Distributed Active Archive Center (OB.DAAC) provides the global research community almost 4 Petabytes (PB) of satellite remote sensing data from a large number of operational, legacy, and international missions. This archive spans nearly 40 years of satellite measurements of ocean color, sea surface temperature, and sea surface salinity.

The OB.DAAC also maintains SeaBASS, a publicly shared archive of in situ oceanographic and atmospheric data collected from ship-borne marine surveys, scientific buoys, and autonomous robotic "gliders". These data can be manipulated with the freely available "SeaDAS" software package which enables the processing, display, and analysis of ocean color and other applicable satellite remote sensing earth science data.

Event: Discover NASA's Ocean Color Data and Services at the OB.DAAC
When: Wednesday 22 March 2017, 02:00 PM - 03:00 PM
Time Zone: Eastern Daylight Savings Time (UTC/GMT-4)

Speaker:
Robert Lossing is a satellite remote sensing oceanographer at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's Ocean Biology Processing Group. He works on the development and implementation of new and improved algorithms for producing Level 2 and Level 3 ocean color data products from satellite remote sensing radiometry (visible to short-wave infrared); implementing these algorithms in processing software; evaluating and validating the performance of the algorithms; developing methodologies to assess and correct for instrumental artifacts in derived ocean color products; and documenting work through publications and presentations at meetings and conferences.
