Hi,
I am working on HICO images around Venice Bay. I downloaded and processed L1b (.h5) data for the region using SeaDAS v.7.5.1 on macOS and l2gen. It seems that .h5 files for 2014 have wrong coordinates, while the .nc files are ok, however l2gen cannot handle these .nc files.
Attached are two L1b images I created with SeaDAS to exemplify the error. The pin corresponds to the position of the AERONET-OC Tower.
Apart for this issue, can I expect .h5 and .nc files to be exactly the same?
Yes, the HDF5 (.h5) versions of the HICO data suffer from some navigation issues. The new netCDF files have an adjustment that should significantly improve the navigation of the data (although there may still be some error). The calibration of the data should be the same. There may have be some minor differences, but nothing that would be significant.
An upcoming release of SeaDAS will have support the the new netCDF format files.
Mariana,The instructions on the old HICO website were for using the BIL files in ENVI. That won't work for either the HDF5 or the netCDF4 files we distribute.
SeaDAS does have a ground control point navigation feature that can be used to adjust the navigation of individual scenes. We expect to release the next version of SeaDAS in mid-December 2018...so not long now Sean
