MODIS level 0 data packets empty - need alternative approach to download

by 3sunanda.m » Mon Dec 17, 2018 12:30 am America/New_York

Dear All

I tried to download modis level 0 (MYD00F and MOD00) from Earthdata and Oceancolor respectively for the Arabian gulf region. I downloaded this particular file MOD00.P2008358.0950_1.PDS.bz2  (from Ocean Color website) considering that 9:50am is the crossing time for the satellite over Arabian Gulf. But when I processed it and extracted it to L1B the output did not cover the Arabian gulf region. Also, I tried to download the level 0 data from the Earthdata(MYD00F) and LAADS DAC website(MYD00F), I came across that most of the packets are empty. Kindly provide necessary solution from where I can download the MOD00 data for the Arabian Gulf region.

Regards
Sunanda

You cannot use time to identify granules that will cover a particular region.  For example, below are the MODIS-Aqua overpass times for the middle of the Arabian Sea for the next 10 days.
You can identify scenes of interest using our L1/L2 browser (or the Earthdata search tool).  It also lists L0 files for MODIS, however, it is quite unlikely that you really need the L0 data.  The L1A files contain the same information as the L0 files, but in a much more friendly format - and the format required by the processing code provided with SeaDAS.
