Hi,

Pages https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/10.5067/AQUA/MODIS/L3M/SST/2014/ and https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/10.5067/AQUA/MODIS/L3M/SST/2014/ mention DOIs data/10.5067/AQUA/MODIS/L3M/SST/2014 and data/10.5067/TERRA/MODIS/L3M/SST/2014 .

I assume they translate to links https://doi.org/10.5067/TERRA/MODIS/L3M/SST/2014 and https://doi.org/10.5067/AQUA/MODIS/L3M/SST/2014 - but these links don't work. (compare with https://doi.org/10.5067/AQUA/MODIS/L3M/RRS/2018 etc, which work). Is this a known issue?

Thanks,
Simon

Hi Simon,

It's not an 'issue', but 'it's complicated'...

We originally registered DOIs for MODIS SST v2014 products, but as processes evolved, it was decided that the permanent archive facility for the product should assign the DOI for the product. For SST, that facility is the PO.DAAC. Unfortunately, once a DOI has been registered it is 'permanent', so I am not allowed to remove the OceanColor landing pages you found. Instead, I have updated the pages to show a message directing the user to the proper listing of DOIs. You can use the PO.DAAC's Data Discovery Portal to find SST DOIs.

Thank you, Alicia. To make sure I don't mess anything up, could you point me at the right DOI for files like https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/ob/getfile/TERRA_MODIS.20200731.L3m.DAY.SST.sst.4km.nc (non-NRT Terra and Aqua 4 km SST)?

Sure, the direct link to the PO.DAAC product used to derive our MODIS-Terra L3 SST products is https://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/dataset/MODIS_T-JPL-L2P-v2019.0?ids=Platform:Sensor:ProcessingLevel&values=

For MODIS-Aqua, the link is: https://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/dataset/MODIS_A-JPL-L2P-v2019.0?ids=Platform:Sensor:ProcessingLevel&values=

The DOIs are at the top of the 'Information' tab.
