MODIS DB production problems with OCSSW

by liamgumley » Tue Dec 01, 2020 4:43 pm America/New_York

Production of MODIS direct broadcast (DB) Level 1 data with the OCSSW v7.5.3 processing software halted early on 01-DEC-2020. Early indications point to an out-of-date version of de200.dat and therefore de200.eos.

MODIS DB production problems with OCSSW

by OB.DAAC - SeanBailey » Tue Dec 01, 2020 5:03 pm America/New_York

Yes, just pushed a fix to our operational processing system.  An updated planetary ephemeris file will be made available to SeaDAS users tomorrow (shift whistle just blew )

As the LANCE post mentions, the ephemeris was *supposed* to be valid until Jan 1st 2021...for some reason not yet identified (or explained to me) MODIS GEO decided to go bonkers a month early.
BTW, the full ephemeris that is used is actually valid until 31 March 2169 ...someone made "an executive decision" to have the version used by MODIS truncated...
