Invalid/old utcpole and leapsec files?

by b.mccabe » Wed Feb 03, 2021 2:40 pm America/New_York

UTCpole and leapsec files at https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/Ancillary/LUTs/modis/utcpole.dat and https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/Ancillary/LUTs/modis/leapsec.dat seem to have been reverted to a old/outdated versions from July 2020.

From a UTCpole file retrieved yesterday:
File Updated: 2021-02-01T02:49:56Z, using USNO ser7 finals.data file of Jan  28
From a UTCpole file retrieved today:
File Updated: 2020-07-22T08:42:26Z, using USNO ser7 finals.data file of Jul  21

From a leapsec file retrieved yesterday:
Checked(unchanged): 2021-01-28T01:38:11Z using USNO tai-utc.dat file of Jan  27  20:38
From a leapsec file retrieved today:
Checked(unchanged): 2020-07-01T22:07:42Z using USNO tai-utc.dat file of Jul  1  18:08

Any idea what may have caused this issue, or when we might expect the UTCpole and leapsec files to be up-to-date again?

Thanks,
Benjamin McCabe / DRL Computer Scientist

We played a shell game behind the scenes, but with big shells with lots of BBs.  A few fell on the floor and we're picking them up now.  Should be resolved soon(ish), but might be a day or so.
