Aerosol type from satellite data

by yang16 » Sat May 08, 2021 6:14 am America/New_York

Dear EARTHDATA FORUM,

I wonder how to interprete the Aerosol_Type_Land variable from the MYD04_L2 product? Generally, the aerosol types include maritime, continental, and etc. But I did not find such information from this variable.

In addition, I want to know the aerosol type over a coastal water region. So I wonder which satellite products provide this information?

Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Mengmeng.

I am not familiar with the data variables in the MYD04_L2 data product.

For your second question, MERRA-2 has a Black Carbon data variable and several dust aerosol data variables. OMI and TROPOMI have aerosol absorption variables for absorbing aerosols. Giovanni can provide a quick indicator even if you require the Level 2 data, or you can examine the data product pages at the GES DISC.
