"OCSSW is not accessible" (configuration problem?)

by rayczaja » Wed May 19, 2021 7:50 am America/New_York

Good morning

I installed SeaDAS a few days ago. I went to go use one of the data processor tools, but when I click "extractor" under "SeaDAS-OCSSW" I get "Remote server is down. OCSSW is not accessible. Please start OCSSW remote server"

Here is my SeaDAS system info:

NASA Science Processing (OCSSW):

General System and Software:

Perhaps there was an issue during installation? Should I try re-installing?

Thanks

SeaDAS OCSSW processing on Windows is not yet supported in SeaDAS 8.0.0, but is coming soon.

In the meantime, you can try SeaDAS 7.5.3.You can download it here: https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/Sea ... ler/7.5.3/

Here is on the SeaDAS-OCSSW client-server configuration (SeaDAS 7.5) for Windows users. https://seadas.gsfc.nasa.gov/client_server/

Thank you. I was looking to extract chlorophyll concentrations from specific areas. It seems like the extractor tool only works for square areas, whereas I need chlorophyll concentrations from custom, irregularly shaped areas, so I think I need to extract manually anyway.

Thanks again.

If you are using mapped data, GIS packages such as QGIS may be better suited to your task. There are many more GIS users than ocean color users, so fewer undiscovered bugs and more avenues to get help if you have a problem.

SeaDAS 8.1.0 was released yesterday, and SeaDAS OCSSW processing on Windows is supported now. You are welcome to try it: https://seadas.gsfc.nasa.gov/downloads/
