The LP DAAC is pleased to announce the availability of the ECOsystem Spaceborne Thermal Radiometer Experiment on Space Station (ECOSTRESS) Level 3 Evapotranspiration (ET) and Level 4 Evaporative Stress Index (ESI) data products at a spatial resolution of 70 meters. These data products are generated by NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) using the Atmosphere Land Exchange Inverse (ALEXI) Disaggregation algorithm (dis-ALEXI).

Attached to the International Space Station (ISS), ECOSTRESS measures the Earth's surface temperature to better understand how much water is used by plants. More information on ECOSTRESS mission can be found on the ECOSTRESS website: https://ecostress.jpl.nasa.gov/

This is great -- thank you.

Can you expand on how these Level 3 and 4 products might be available? I'm using AppEARS for access now but have never seen these products available. Are they generated pre-demand or does a query prompt their generation?

Simply -- how would you recommend I get them over the Joseph Canyon Fire which is burning right now (https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7513/).

Hi,
Sorry they are not available on AppEEARS yet, they will be at some point, but now so much of AppEEARS development efforts is in getting it cloud compatible as the plan is to have all our data there in the future. The data is not processed on demand, it is processed at JPL and we archive it as we receive it. The data is available through the Earthdata Search tool: https://search.earthdata.nasa.gov/search

Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Brett
