How to get the Rayleigh diffuse transmittance Only

by liugers11 » Tue Jun 29, 2021 6:14 pm America/New_York

Hi,
In SeaDAS l2gen, The output products t_sen and t_sol are the Rayleigh-Aerosol diffuse transmittance. We want to obtain the Rayleigh diffuse transmittance only. The t_sen and t_sol are the Rayleigh diffuse transmittance only when we set the "aer_opt=-99" (No aerosol subtraction) ? If not, how can I get the Rayleigh diffuse transmittance?

Best Wishes

Ge

Hi Ge,

The Rayleigh diffuse transmittance can be calculated in a straight forward way:

t_sol = exp(-0.5 * taur/ csolz*(pr / p0 - 1))
t_sen= exp(-0.5 * taur/ csenz*(pr / p0 - 1))

taur is the Rayleigh optical depth that needs to be adjusted for the surface pressure pr relative to the standard pressure p0. csolz and csenz are the cosine of solar and sensor zenith angle, respectively.
