by GES DISC - jimacker » Tue Jul 13, 2021 10:16 pm America/New_York

The NASA Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC) is announcing the public release of the TIROS-2, -3, -4 and -7 Level 1 Final Meteorological Radiation Tape (FMRT) data products. The Television Infrared Observation Satellites (TIROS) were a series of low-orbit meteorological spacecraft, the first of which was launched on April 1, 1960, followed by nine more satellites through July 2, 1965. Each satellite was equipped with two TV cameras for taking pictures of the Earth from space. TIROS-2, -3, -4 and -7 were also equipped with a 5-channel infrared medium resolution scanning radiometer for measuring radiation from the Earth and its atmosphere.
