MODIS files for 2021

by avmehta » Sun Jul 25, 2021 7:22 pm America/New_York

Hello,
This is one more plea for help! I am having trouble getting GEO file from MODIS L1A for all the files I have tried for in 2021.
I have ordered data from Ocean Color web for the region 'Chesapeake Bay'. To be sure I re-downloaded a few files today (data order number e0a0d088d1fa0166).
The file I tried right now is A2021152172500.L1A_LAC.x.hdf. I am usinb the GUI on my Mac.

I get the following:
MODIS GEO version 6.1.0, built Dec 1 2020 09:48:48
scan: 0 out of 12 Sun Jul 25 18:47:20 2021
scan: 10 out of 12 Sun Jul 25 18:47:20 2021

geogen_modis returned with exit status: 0
Percent valid data (0.00) is less than threshold (95.00)
Validation test returned with error code: 1

I am not sure where these coordinates come from.
I have attached LogStatus file. I found this file saved as .hdf! I have converted as pdf.
I installed SeaDAS 8.1.0 and installed OC processors a coupled weeks ago.
Please help me figure out what I am not doing right!
Thank you.

It is unfortunate that the log appears as a PDF file -- text is more useful when quoting for replies.

The log says: "There is NO data for time specified." For cases like this, the level 1 and 2 browser is very helpful to show you the areas with data:

Amita,

It seems that you are not using the latest OCSSW tag, judging from "MODIS GEO version 6.1.0, built Dec 1 2020 09:48:48".

Can you do SeaDAS-OCSSW -> SeaDAS/System Info and post the result here?

When you do install/update OC Processors, please make sure you choose V2021.2 from the valid OCSSW tags: https://seadas.gsfc.nasa.gov/help-8.1.0 ... OCSSW.html

When you do modis_GEO, please also check refreshDB box: https://seadas.gsfc.nasa.gov/help-8.1.0 ... s_GEO.html

Hello Bing,
Thanks for your suggestion about OCSSW, I will check that and reinstall. But I can process data for 2019, 2018 MODIS files I checked. Whereas end part of 2020 and 2021 result in the error I shared. How can that happen?!
Thanks.
Amita
PS I was able to reinstall OCSSW V2021.2 and process am image from 2021 that did not work before!
Thanks for your help.

Thank you Sean.
Once I reinstalled OCSSW (V2021.2), I was able to process an image from 2021 via GUI on my Mac!
Thanks.
Amita
