GLDAS Runoff different kind of data

by ayep » Thu Jul 29, 2021 8:23 am America/New_York

I have a question regarding the different runoff data available from the LDAS dataset, since I am studying the water storage components to validate TWS from GRACE:

According to a post in this forum (viewtopic.php?t=421) "the subsurface runoff Qsb_acc and surface runoff Qs_acc is the GLDAS total runoff".

But from the Giovanni site (and README documents) I found that:
Qsb_acc = baseflow groundwater runoff (GLDAS_NOAH)
Qs_acc = storm surface runoff (GLDAS_NOAH)
Qtotal_tavg = anomaly of total runoff (FLDAS_NOAH) -> which is the sum of subsurface + surface runoff

So, that means that the subsurface runoff is the "baseflow groundwater runoff Qsb_acc", and the surface runoff is the "storm surface runoff Qs_acc"?
I would really appreciate if you could answer this to me, since I did not find it very clear form the documents.
Thanks!
