What of Landsat 8 file should I put into SeaDas L2gen function?

by joeymcy » Tue Aug 03, 2021 12:41 pm America/New_York

Dear all,
I am new to SeaDas and remote sensing. So my project is to create a model to detect Chlorophyll and Suspened Solid in Hong Kong.

Now, I am making level 2 atmospheric Corrected products from Landsat 8 for Ocean color.

When I am putting in ifiles for the process, MTL.txt, ANG.txt or the whole tar.gz was the correct input. What should be it?

Can anyone give me a hint?

l2gen on LANDSAT 8 takes an L1B file(*MTL.txt) as the input.

Please make sure you have installed oli processor before you do l2gen. https://seadas.gsfc.nasa.gov/downloads/

Hi XuanYang, Thank you for the reply.

I downloaded Level 1 Collection 1 Landsat 8 and put the MTL.txt. into L2gen. Hwoever, it still show error.

Is the "L1B file(*MTL.txt)" you mentioned in Level 1 Collection 1? or it is something else?

Did you install oli processor? Please also make sure you installed OCSSW with tag V2021.2.

Can you do "SeaDAS-OCSSW -> SeaDAS/System Info" and post the result here?

Yes, I downloaded LC08_L1TP_121045_20131005_20170429_01_T1 (Collection 1 Level 1) from https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/

It seems that l2gen GUI does not like the space in your "Satellite image" directory. Can you change your directory name "Satellite image" to "Satellite_image" and try again?

Yes. It works. Not having spaces in the folder name containing satelite image works
