Hi,
I have downloaded "MERRA2_100.tavgU_2d_lnd_Nx.198001.nc4" evaporation data from 1980 to year 2020.
"MERRA-2 tavgU_2d_lnd_Nx: 2d,diurnal,Time-Averaged,Single-Level,Assimilation,Land Surface Diagnostics V5.12.4 (M2TUNXLND)"

Each data has 24 layers (i guess these are hours), but i want to know the units??? i need output evaporation in mm/month? Can anyone help??

Here is the answer from our MERRA-2 data curator.

"M2TUNXLND is monthly mean diurnal , i.e., the average is done for each hour of a month.

If you are interested in the monthly mean data, you should have data for M2TMNXLND.

For the variable EVLAND, the unit is: kg m-2 s -1

Read more by searching M2T1NXLND or searching the variable name in
https://gmao.gsfc.nasa.gov/pubs/docs/Bosilovich785.pdf

kg m-2 s -1 = mm/s

EVLAND *3600*24*<day_of_mon> --> mm/month"
