Dear colleagues,

after exciting eight years in orbit, the MOS/IRS-P3 mission from DLR side now has reached the end and will be discontinued by end of May. We do not know when the satellite will be switched off finally, this is up to decision by ISRO.

Although most of you will receive more formal writings soon, let me already take this opportunity to thank everyone for long-lasting support and encouragement during these years. It was an exciting time where we saw the ocean colour satellite family grow and science and applications in this field developing rapidly. And, looking back as beeing the first in this second generation after CZCS, we think MOS did a good, if not to say a great job.

Now this is it. With a little tear in the eyes, I attach one of the last "official" images from last week as a farewell ...

Best regards, also on behalf of the entire team at DLR
Andreas
