new features on the OceanColor web

by genecarlfeldman » Fri Jul 23, 2004 4:15 pm America/New_York

good afternoon,

wanted to let everyone know that we have added a number of new functions and a few enhancements to the OceanColor web - http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov

best regards.

1. Update to the web Browse/Order page.
The two new features available from the ocean color browser are non-standard date ranges for searches and a more context sensitive set of help pages. In addition to the time periods available from the hyperlinks in the calendars below the world map on the top level page of the browser, users can now choose their own date range or multiple ranges to search over.  Just click on the hyperlink immediately above the world map to begin specifying a date range. for a description of how to use this feature see:

        http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/browse_help/custom_date_ranges/

2. Consolidation of links to all data available via FTP
All of the data sets that we provide access to via ftp have been organized in a single access page which can be reached under the "Data by FTP" link on the OceanColor homepage or directly at:

        http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov (/ftp.html)

3. Initiation of an online Ocean Color Publications database
We have begun to catalog publications dealing with ocean color research.  This database is intended for informational purposes.  Currently, we have just over 100 articles and abstracts available.  We are actively searching for more to add and welcome any/all suggestions and contributions.  The search engine for this database provides a method for submitting references to this database.  If you find we haven't listed your publication, we encourage you to please submit it.  you can access the database under the "Documents" section of the OceanColor web or directly at:

        http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov (/cgi/publications.cgi)
