End of NASA/ORBIMAGE contract

by genecarlfeldman » Fri Jan 07, 2005 8:46 am America/New_York

Dear Members of the Ocean Color Community,
It is with deep regret that I must write to let you know that NASA
and ORBIMAGE have been unable to reach a mutually acceptable
arrangement that would have allowed NASA to continue to
acquire SeaWiFS data beyond the current contract which expires
on 23 December 2004. Consequently, any ocean color researchers
who may wish to continue to use SeaWiFS data beyond that date must
contact ORBIMAGE directly to arrange for continued access to the
data. There is a link on the ORBIMAGE website
(http://www.orbimage.com/) that provides details for the data
access policies and pricing for both commercial and research uses
of SeaWiFS (OV-2) data. All current NASA-authorized receiving stations
must also contact ORBIMAGE directly to arrange for continued access to
decryption keys beyond 23 December.

I am truly sorry to have to send out this message but on behalf of
everyone here at the SeaWiFS Project, we want to thank all those folks
who has been involved with this incredible mission for all these years.

With my very best regards and deepest appreciation for all your support.
