Ocean Color Update

by genecarlfeldman » Fri Jan 07, 2005 8:55 am America/New_York

Greetings,
Below are a few Ocean Color-related announcements and updates.

1- At 11:59 pm tomorrow (December 23, 2004) the contract between
NASA and ORBIMAGE will expire meaning that NASA will no longer have
access to SeaWiFS data. All data collected between September 04, 1997
and December 23, 2004 will still be available from NASA to all authorized
SeaWiFS researchers under the same terms and conditions as before.
For all future access to SeaWiFS (OrbView-2) data, researchers will be
required to make direct arrangements with ORBIMAGE
(http://www.orbimage.com)

2- Final tests and evaluations are being carried out on the MODIS/AQUA mission
data set for an anticipated full mission reprocessing next month. Analyses
and summaries of findings will be posted prior to a reprocessing for
community review and comment.

3- Getting a new iPod this holiday season? What better way to tote around
MODIS data, ephemeris files, and all of your beautiful mapped composites
created using the new SeaDAS for Macintosh!!!

Yes, that's right, SeaDAS is now available for Macintosh computers
running OS X, and will be released in early January 2005 with the new
(and optimized) SeaDAS 4.7.

And no, you don't have to be a unix geek to install and enjoy...

With that, and on behalf of all the folks who work on this project, we
want to wish everyone the very best of holidays and hope that perhaps the
coming year will finally be one where "peace on earth" is more than just a
slogan on a greeting card.

regards,
gene
