Announcement: SeaDAS 4.7 now available

Dear SeaDAS Users,

SeaDAS 4.7 is now available on our ftp site. In addition to several
release notes below, we would like to point out several things about
this release:

- We are not releasing support for either Solaris 2.7 or 2.8
yet since the output from msl12 does not match up with our
production system as well as we would like. We are working
on determining the cause of this problem and will release
Solaris support as soon as possible.

- Technically, we are not supporting Terra processing with this
release yet, although we have still included all of the same
processing capabilities as before. However, we will be coming
out with new LUT's and gains in the near future.

- With this release, we are no longer providing support for
RedHat Linux 7.1 or 7.2.

- For those of you that have never used our online installation
process, it is much improved with this release. We encourage
you all to take advantage of it, since it greatly simplifies
the complex manual installation process.

- We have not uploaded our software to the ftp mirror sites yet,
but will be working on this in the coming weeks. If you are
interested in this, keep an eye on our main web page for those
links, as we will post the links as they come online.

Enjoy!

SeaDAS 4.7 - Release Notes (02/17/05)
========================================================================

New Features:

* SeaDAS has been ported to Macintosh OS X 10.3 and functions
identically to SeaDAS on other platforms.

* MODIS L1B calibration parameters have been updated to coincide with
the first full MODIS/Aqua Ocean Reprocessing.

* The MODIS 678 nm band is now being processed, giving SeaDAS users
access to fluorescence products. SeaDAS can now process the full suite
of MODIS ocean nLw's and fluorescence line height.

* A substantial rewrite of msl12 has been completed, with C code
replacing much of the msl12 Fortran code. Structural changes have been
made to most of the external atmospheric correction tables, including
HDF-formatted aerosol and Rayleigh tables for all sensors.

* SeaDAS binaries are now compiled using aggressive optimization flags
to provide speed improvements for processing programs on all platforms.
