MODIS-Aqua Data Users:

The OBPG was intending to start the ocean color reprocessing of MODIS-Aqua yesterday. Unfortunately, we're all buried under 3-4 feet of snow, and the center has been closed for 4 days. So, this is just a notice to let you know that we will be updating information on the web pages and starting the reprocessing as soon as we can get back to work. In the interim, I have posted for your information a slightly updated version of a talk given at the recent MODIS Science Team meeting that highlights the major changes and the improved results to be expected from the reprocessing. The presentation is here:

You may also wish to review the information posted on the Reprocessing 2009 webpage:

http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/REPROCESSING/R2009/

These web pages will be updated with MODIS results soon, but the information on algorithms and format changes is current and valid for MODIS as well as SeaWiFS. I particularly draw your attention to the discussion on format and content changes, as this tends to cause the most immediate issues for our users.

If you have any questions, please post them to the Reprocessing forum here.

Hopefully, we will start the MODIS-Aqua ocean color reprocessing early next week.

Best Regards,
Bryan Franz and the Ocean Biology Processing Group
