l2_flags generated by l2gen for HICO

Hi -- I generated a HICO Level-2 (chlor_a) file and noticed that the l2_flags image is not generated (well, it actually generates a single scalar integer = 0).  I know that HICO is only just coming online and that the calibration etc.. are not really ready for primetime so I am guessing that it probably does not make sense to generate the full l2_flags.  Is this indeed why you are not producing the l2_flags?

Also, I was wondering if you think there is any value in using the Level_1B quality flags (for now) to mask suspect data in the level 2 file?

Hmm,
That doesn't make sense...there is nothing HICO specific about the l2_flags (and I can't replicate the problem).
Can you provide the filename (and l2gen version) you used?

The L1B quality flags may be useful to you, however we have not evaluated them with respect to our processing yet.

Sean --  Well I must be going totally crazy! ;-\    I swear I read in the hico l2_flags yesterday and my little read program gave me scalar short integer value of zero as a result.  BUT... I just now re-checked the hico file with what I think is the same read program I used yesterday and it now correctly gives me a long integer array 512 x 2000.  I think I need a drink! ;-(.   Not sure where I messed up yesterday, but sorry to have caused you unnecessary extra work looking into this "imaginary" problem.

No worries, I've chased many a phantom in my day (most of my own imagination), I'm sure this won't be the last
