MODIS ATH/EPH file available?

by jay_cable » Sat Jul 16, 2022 6:57 pm America/New_York

Hello,
We receive and processing modis data via direct broadcast. However, all our passes since 2022-07-15 03:35:00 UTC have been failing due to what looks like a missing attitude and ephemeris files. Is there an issue with the attitude and ephemeris files that are currently available? It looks like we haven't seen any new files since day 195...

Please refer to the announcement on top of the forum regarding the OB.DAAC downtime from last Friday (July 15, 2022):
"Earlier this week our database servers suffered a hardware related failure. While we were able to restore them relatively quickly, we discovered another issue that prevented bringing them back to full operational capacity. We are currently working on restoring data. Once all is back in a happy state, the data since the outage began will be restored."

Thanks for the update.
Just to confirm this outage is related to the power outage?

The post says:
"12 p.m. Central Time on Friday, July 15, 2022."

However, the files became completely unavailable for us at 02:00Z evening of the 14th Central time and were intermittently unavailable for two days prior, so I just wanted to confirm.

Getting this restored is very important to us, as we are unable to process direct broadcast data in a timely manner until those files are updated.

Thanks,
-Jay

Jay,

No, this is not related to any power outage, just a cascade of failures related to a hardware issue with our database servers.
We are *mostly* (if not fully by the time you read this) back to normal...but I say that with some caution as every time I say something like that the computers make me a liar ;)
