Reprocessed MODIS Aqua data

by oceanwatchcp » Wed Oct 26, 2022 8:32 pm America/New_York

Hi there,

I am looking for the 2022 reprocessed as well as the previous version of MODIS Aqua data on daily and monthly resolutions to download. Where are the correct folders/what are the right pages/search for them, respectively?

Thank you,
Daisy

The reprocessed data are available here:
https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/directdataaccess/Level-3%20Binned/Aqua-MODIS
https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/directdataaccess/Level-3%20Mapped/Aqua-MODIS

You may find some of the older version files there, but they are in the process of being deleted from the archive.

Thank you Tommy.

How do I distinguish the newly reprocessed data files and the older ones?

Are the newly reprocessed data file names start with "AQUA_MODIS.20*" and the older version files start with "A20*"?

Both version of L3 map files are available through the OPeNDAP server. The old files are in the 3-digit day of year directories and the new files are in the 4-digit mmdd directories.

Thank you, this is very helpful!

For the old version, besides daily data, I couldn't find the monthly or 8-day data in the 3-digit day of year directories. Are they still available somewhere?

They are archived in the directory of the starting data day of the multiday bin. So, you would need to look in 001, 032, 060, 091 for the monthly files etc. during non-leap years, and 001, 032, 061, 092 etc. in leap years.

When will the reprocessed TERRA OC files be released? It appears only the reprocessed AQUA OC files are currently available.

Thanks!
